Male Pattern Baldness – Causes and Natural Treatments

MPB or Male Pattern Baldness is also called “Androgenic Alopecia”. It is the most common form of hair loss representing more than 95% of hair loss in men especially by the age of thirty-five and old fifty’s. Each strand of your hair is attached to a tiny cavity which is called a follicle and each hair on your scalp has its own growth cycle. Male pattern baldness starts with a shrink of the hair follicle which weakens the hair growth cycle producing thinner, shorter and finer hair. Hair loss usually takes part from the crown of your head or receding of hairlines which sometimes form an M shape. With the continuous shedding of hair, it ends up with a bald pattern on the head.After a period of time, follicles does not grow new hair in its place. Causes of Baldness

  • DHT

The most major factor of male pattern baldness is DHT, a hormone called Di-hydro-testosterone. It is also known as Androgen hormone. It causes the shortening duration of the follicles in men resulting in choking of follicles. DHT affects people differently due to an increase in DHT receptors on the follicle or higher androgen receptors sensitivity etc.

Linolenic acid and linoleic acid, both are the dietary sources for HDL which act as 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. 5-alpha reductase is considered to be a hormone which travels across the bloodstream and finish off the hair follicles at their place. 5-alpha reductase levels rise in metabolic syndrome.

Natural Remedies for MPB

  • Oiling and Massage

There are a variety of oils which can promote strength to your hair and make your follicles healthy such as castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil etc. It is optional which oil better suits your scalp. Just apply few drops of oil on your scalp and hair, massage it very well. Repeat this process twice a week and for at least two months to get the results. The follicles will absorb the oil and massage will increase the blood circulation which will help to make your roots healthy and stronger.

  • Fenugreek Seed Paste

Mix water with one cup of fenugreek seeds and let it soak for overnight. Make a paste by grinding the mixture, apply it on your scalp and hair. For best results use a shower cap to cover your head after applying the mixture and leave it for about 40 minutes. Rinse your hair. By repeating this process every morning for a month will stimulate your hair growth and rebuild your follicles.

  • Onion Juice

Onions are fully enriched with sulfur which is found within amino acids. Sulfur promotes collagen production which helps in producing salubrious skin cells and hair growth.Applying onion juice to the scalp twice a day nurture regrowth of hair within six weeks. Peel the onions, then grate them. Collect the extracted juice by straining it. Apply this juice on your scalp especially on bald patches and massage your head. Leave it for about 30 minutes then rinse off. Try this method for six weeks to see the result.

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera gel contains polysaccharides and glycoproteins which stimulate the blood circulation and growth of hair. Apply Aloe Vera gel to your scalp and massage it. Let your scalp absorb it for at least an hour, then wash off. Repeat this method for three to four times a week. It also helps in optimizing the pH of your scalp.

  • Cinnamon Powder

A mixture of cinnamon powder and olive oil is a very effective remedy for male pattern baldness. Add two teaspoons of cinnamon powder in a cup of olive oil to make a paste. Apply it all over your scalp and leave it for about an hour. Then rinse off your head.

  • Mustard Seed

Take a handful of mustard seeds and boil it in a liter of water. Let it cool down, then wash your hair with this water. Try this method regularly and it will control the male pattern baldness.

  • Fruits with rich Vitamins

Consuming fruits with vitamin A, B and C are very beneficial for our health and it also helps in prevention of hair loss. Vitamin A stimulates hair growth, vitamin B helps in making your hair thick and strong and vitamin C regulates the blood circulation, transportation to your hair follicles. Watermelon and guava are enriched with vitamin A, blackberries and bananas for vitamin B1, B2 and B6, oranges and strawberries contain vitamin C.

  • Chinese Hibiscus Flower

Put some Chinese hibiscus flowers into a pan filled with one cup of coconut oil. Heat it until mixture charred. After this step, strain it to collect the oil mixture. Apply this oil before going to sleep and leave it on for overnight. Wash your hair in the morning and repeat this process for few times a week.
